The contract signed by VINCI Concessions covers the design, construction, operation and financing of a bridge over the Gulf of Corinth between central Greece and the Peloponnese. At 2,883 metres, Charilaos Trikoupis Bridge (Rion–Antirion) is one of Europe’s largest bridges. Designed and built to withstand strong earthquakes, it is a lever for economic growth throughout the region. In addition, the bridge is included in the priority plan for European transport growth. The journey between Rion and Antirion now takes only 5 minutes, down from the 45 minutes previously required by ferry. Charilaos Trikoupis Bridge has been operated by Gefyra, a VINCI Concessions subsidiary, since August 2004. The concession contract is for 35 years.
