The Locorail consortium, consisting of VINCI Concessions (25%), VINCI Construction subsidiary CFE (25%) and BAM PPP (50%), has been awarded the contract for the Liefkenshoek rail link under the Port of Antwerp by Infrabel, the Belgian railway infrastructure operator. The 42-year contract calls for the design, financing, construction and maintenance of a 16.2 km double-track rail link. This additional link (including a bored tunnel) between the two banks for the River Escaut will help to alleviate the dense freight traffic in the port.
