VINCI Highways and Avtodor take their interoperability agreement to intercontinental level and forge the new road ahead to autonomous vehicles in Russia

Today, at St Petersburg International Economic Forum (Spief 2018), Avtodor, the public company in charge of the management of Russian highways, and VINCI Highways, subsidiary of VINCI Concessions, signed a Memorandum of Understanding that places innovation at the heart of their future cooperation. The MOU was ratified on the Spief French Pavilion, by Sergei Kelbakh, President of Avtodor, and Nicolas Notebaert, CEO of VINCI Concessions, in presence of Delphine Gény-Stephann Secretary of State attached to the French Minister of Economy and Finance.

The two organizations commit together to develop intercontinental interoperability between Russia and the European Union. The initiative will be making road transportation more seamless thanks to the use of one single transponder to cross the various highway networks. As Russia’s first private road operator, VINCI Highways had already been developing interoperability of highway services in the country on a +1000 km network in 2017. Avtodor and VINCI Highways will also place strong focus on new perspective technologies for road services and traffic management to accompany the arrival of autonomous and partly autonomous vehicles on Russian roads. Cooperation on road safety and new strategies for marketing and promotion of toll roads are also to be increased in the next future.
