On 13 December, VINCI Airports inaugurated the new arrivals hall and the extension of the boarding area at Phnom Penh International Airport, in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Bin Chhin of Cambodia.

The $26 million project, carried out by VINCI Construction Grands Projets in partnership with the Malaysian company Muhibbah, is the second phase of VINCI Airports' ambitious investment program to support the strong growth in traffic at Cambodian airports (+25% over the first nine months of 2017). The first phase, worth $100 million, was completed in March 2016 with the inauguration of the new terminals at Siem Reap and Phnom Penh airports.

More than 10,000m² have been added to the existing terminal and some areas have been completely renovated. In addition to the extension, two new conveyor belts have been installed in the arrivals hall to ensure greater passenger comfort and optimised baggage delivery. The domestic departure hall was expanded and two additional boarding gates were opened. The modular design of this zone allows it to be used according to operational requirements, and thus accommodates international passengers in order to streamline flows in the boarding halls. At the exit of the arrivals area, a spacious esplanade welcomes travellers with a fountain in the centre and a hand carved statue of 20 tons representing Khmer symbols. In addition, the core area now includes new commercial offers, food outlets and kiosks providing telecommunication services, tourist information and transport to the city.
