The M11 Neva motorway connecting Moscow to Saint Petersburg is over 669 km long.
In just one year, more than 8 million drivers drove through the section between St. Petersburg and Veliky Novgorod, a particularly popular parcel of the M11, as it relieves drivers from traditional traffic jams on the M10.

VINCI Concessions holds a 50 percent participation in UTS, which provides traffic management services, maintains the road network and guarantees the safety of road users.

Challenges Met

Road maintenance that withstands the weather

Weather is always a factor that needs to be taken into account for road maintenance. In Russia, conditions are extreme. In the winter, snow settled 2.3 m deep! The teams from UTS removed nearly 30,000 tonnes of snow from a section of the M11 highway between Moscow and Saint Petersburg – a remarkable effort to ensure traffic flowed as freely and as safely as possible.
