VINCI Highways opens Lima expressway’s last viaduct to traffic

March 12, 2019

VINCI Highways opened the Zarumilla viaduct, the last bridge on section 2 of Lima’s expressway, on 31 January last.

Work on this viaduct was completed in September and approved by the municipal authorities elected into office at the end of 2018. This milestone caps a positive year for the Lima concession: VINCI Highways opened section 2 to traffic in June 2018, following delivery in synergy with VINCI’s Contracting branch. The successful integration of the new teams and pooling of industrial expertise from VINCI Highways are enhancing operations: traffic has grown by 13%, the number of electronic toll collection (ETC) subscribers has leapt 60%, safety has improved and customer satisfaction on section 2 has soared to 80%. This project’s healthy operations and finances prompted Fitch Ratings Peru to upgrade its outlook from Stable to Positive and confirm its AA credit rating in December last year.
