VINCI Concessions acquired the concession contract for a number of river dams (BAMEO) until 2043 through a subsidiary in which it holds a 50% stake.
The contract involves the design, construction, financing, operation and maintenance of 31 manual dams along the Aisne and Meuse rivers.
The project will replace the manual dams on the Aisne and on the Meuse with 31 automated dams. It also includes the construction of related equipment such as fish passages and other installations required for the dams. The dams are located near locks that are not included in the project, nor in the maintenance duties of the partner.
At the end of August 2020, BAMEO commissioned the last 9 automatic dams between Charleville-Mézières and Verdun, in the East of France. This key step marks the completion of the modernization work phase of the public-private partnership contract signed between BAMEO and VNF (Voies Navigables de France).
