The VINCI Railways subsidiary MESEA recently obtained triple certification from French standards agency AFNOR for its maintenance and operation of the Sud Europe Atlantique high-speed line (LGV SEA) between Tours and Bordeaux. This recognises the work accomplished since the line was commissioned in 2017.

Three certifications covering various areas of line management 

- Quality management, with ISO 9001 certification

Regularity and maintenance: the cornerstones of quality

94% of trains on the line ran on time. A high-quality service results in high passenger numbers: 60 million people have travelled on the LGV SEA since it opened in 2017.

Quality also comes from improving maintenance and operating practices. Breaking down barriers between business areas, exclusive innovations such as the BROOM track inspection car, and predictive maintenance powered by artificial intelligence are all solutions implemented by MESEA.

A true safety culture

Safety has always been an absolute priority for the VINCI Group and at VINCI Concessions, and the LGV SEA line is entirely in step with this culture. MESEA now boasts one of the lowest accident frequency rates in the entire rail sector.

The “Prevention for all” plan has helped bring about a four-fold decrease in the number of lost-time work accidents since the line was commissioned.

Tangible actions for the environment

VINCI Concessions applied its environmental ambition to the LGV SEA line, making possible:

• the elimination of glyphosate use since the line opened
• steady transition toward an electric vehicle fleet
• line construction work taking special care to preserve biodiversity in the areas covered
