VINCI Highways: renewal of the service contract for the 91 express lanes in California

February 11, 2020

VINCI Highways (VINCI Concessions), via its subsidiary Cofiroute USA, was selected by Orange County Transportation Authority and Riverside County Transportation Commission, near Los Angeles, California, to provide and operate a new back office system and a customer service center for the 91 Express Lanes, a 29 kilometre motorway between the cities of Anaheim and Corona.

The seven-year contract, signed on 28 January 2020, has a total value of US$73 million (€66 million). TollPlus, a company in which VINCI Highways acquired a strategic stake in 2016, will provide a state-of-the-art back office system with new features that will facilitate transaction management, improve financial performance and provide an elevated customer service experience for the more than 150,000 accounts and the 37 million trips recorded every year.

VINCI Highways has operated the 91 Express Lanes, one of the world’s first fully automated free flow toll facilities, since 1995. In renewing this contract, VINCI Highways demonstrates its ability to adapt its range of services to evolving customer needs by taking the latest technological progress on board.

Nicolas Notebaert, Chief Executive Officer of VINCI Concessions and President of VINCI Highways, commented: “VINCI Highways delivers reliable, efficient and innovative road infrastructure and services and constantly adapts to evolving customer needs. This agile approach is key to sustaining our growth momentum in mobility solutions, notably in the United States, where we are present in California and Texas, and in Europe, with the M50 motorway in Dublin, Ireland. This new contract is the third project in less than two years in which a government authority has entrusted to us the implementation of full solutions based on our expertise in programme management, operations and back-office technology.
