End of contract (year):

2026

Located near the Rhône-Alpes road network and major winter sports resorts, Grenoble Alpes Isère airport supports tourism in the region, allowing holidaymakers — mostly from the UK, Poland, Scandinavia and Russia — to reach their destinations as quickly as possible.

The airport also offers services specifically developed for business travellers, with a separate terminal for business aviation and transport connections to the region’s economic hub in the valley, where more and more companies are being established.

New routes open every year, contributing to the economic development of the entire region.

OPENING UP NEW OPPORTUNITIES

A strategic infrastructure for the regional economy

By boosting the region’s profile and appeal, Grenoble airport is playing a leading role in developing not only tourism, but also the entire local economy. It enables companies based in Isère to develop abroad, while international groups can set up local offices.

In this way, the airport helps to create prosperity, generating direct and indirect jobs — for example, up to 350 seasonal workers are employed every year from December to April. In 2016, VINCI Airports ran an online campaign to encourage young people in the local area to pursue a career at the airport.

Unlocking the potential of premium air traffic

The airport terminals have been renovated to manage significant passenger flows during the ski season. New services and food courts were added to meet holidaymakers’ expectations.

The modernisation of the airport ensures it also satisfies business travellers – an area of the market that brings momentum and growth. These customers can enjoy personalised services during their time at the airport, with a new terminal and departure lounge exclusively reserved for business aviation.

Challenge Met

Applying best environmental practices

Iso 14001 certified since 2019, Grenoble Alpes Isère Airport renewed this certification in 2020. The platform has been pursuing its objectives since then, having already reduced its water consumption by 10.3% since 2019, ensuring the replacement of conventional lighting with LED bulbs, and also reducing its GHG (greenhouse gas) emissions by 17.6% since last year.

The airport signed an agreement with the Ligue pour la Protection des Oiseaux (League for the Protection of Birds) at the end of October 2020, confirming its commitment to the protection of biodiversity and the environment.

The first Tour de France in electric aircraft also made a stopover in Grenoble during the year 2020.

Medical evacuations and transfers

During the covid-19 pandemic, Grenoble airport worked with airlines and tour operators to repatriate over 5,000 people stuck abroad after ski resorts were suddenly closed in France.

VINCI Airports network in France, including Grenoble Alpes Isère, was also involved in transferring over 150 patients from regions hit particularly hard by the pandemic
