Lisbon Airport

Holding:

100% VINCI Airports

End of contract (year):

2062

After acquiring ANA – Aeroportos de Portugal in 2013, VINCI Airports became the concession holder for 10 airports in Portugal for the next 50 years. It was a major step in its international development. Since then, the operation and modernisation of the platforms has enabled the 10 airports to increase the connectivity, improve the passenger experience and develop numerous initiatives to protect the environment.

In 2020, Lisbon Airport was named “Best European Airport 2020” by ACI Europe (25 to 40 million passengers category). This is a first for a Portuguese airport and illustrates the commitment of VINCI Airports and its subsidiary ANA to the Covid-19 crisis and the strategy of operational excellence since the concession was taken over in 2013.

In 2023, Lisbon Airport obtained ACA 4+ certification, the highest in the ACI’s environmental assessment programme. VINCI Airports received this environmental certification for all airports in Portugal, becoming the first country in the European Union to have its entire airport system (10 airports) certified ACA 4+. This certification recognises that airports have fully accounted and reported direct and indirect CO2 emissions related to their activities and operations, have significantly reduced their direct emissions, offset their residual direct emissions and started to reduce their indirect emissions.

OPENING UP NEW OPPORTUNITIES

Put innovation at the heart of the airport

During the pandemic, Lisbon deployed an autonomous ultraviolet disinfection robot, and provided passengers with a dedicated application allowing them to give feedback in real time on sanitary measures.

Recentyl, the tourism industry in Lisbon has boomed. An uptick in the economic cycle has come at the same time as its airport capacity is expanding. Growth is visible, even within the airport.

Lisbon airport – a hub for major international events

The airport plays a key role in the organisation of major international events, such as global trade fairs and international sporting competitions.

One example is the Web Summit, the largest technology conference in the world, which attracts over 60,000 attendees over the three-day event. VINCI Airports draws on its wide range of expertise to ensure the smoothest possible experience for international travellers, contributing to the success of the conference.
