Puerto Plata Airport

In 2015, VINCI Airports signed an agreement to acquire the Dominican AERODOM company which operates 6 airports in the Dominican Republic, including Puerto Plata Airport.
Our challenge? How to develop tourism while also minimising the environmental impact on the extraordinary natural beauty that makes these regions so attractive?
As for the whole VINCI Airports' network, the six airports of Dominican Republic are fully committed to the environmental challenge: in 2018, they obtained Level 1 Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA), a first in the Caribbean. Photovoltaic panels were also installed at La Isabela, Puerto Plata and Barahona airports so that they can produce and use carbon‑free power, covering up to 78% of their electricity needs. Aerodom thus becomes the company in the country with the largest solar energy production capacity, with 6.8 MW installed in the 6 airports operated by VINCI Airports.
In 2023, Puerto Plata airport was also named the best airport in its region (ACI's "ASQ Best airport by size and region" award). The same year, the Government of the Dominican Republic granted VINCI Airports a 30-year extension of its current concession contract, originally scheduled for 2030.
